Sandy was born in Crescent City, California and attended grade school through the third grade in Grants Pass, Oregon. She moved with her family to several Northern California logging communities where her dad made a living as a gyppo logger. Sandy spent the summers rough camping in the mountains with her family while her father pursued his logging business. When she became old enough, she helped her dad in his logging business by carrying gas cans, wedges and axes through the rough terrain of the California High Sierras. Many of the late afternoons were spent with her family fishing for rainbow trout, picking wild huckleberries and salmon cap berries.
In 1964 Sandy moved to Portland Oregon and in 1966 graduated as a class officer from Portland Adventist Academy (next to Mall 205). After graduating from high school, Sandy attended Walla Walla College in College Place, Washington.
Prior to her real estate career, Sandy worked as a Secretary to First Vice President of United Medical Laboratories, Secretary to Regional President of Kraft Foods, Legal Secretary for a law firm located in Hillsboro and a Courtroom Clerk for a Washington County Circuit Court Judge.
Sandy then took a hiatus from the work force to be a mother and raise her two children.
In 1986 when Sandy was able to rejoin the work force she chose to go to work for Stan Wiley Realty and subsequently to Equity Group where she is now, although it is known now as RE/MAX Equity Group, the largest real estate company in Oregon.
Included in her 25 years of continuous real estate experience were seven years in the 1990’s with U.S. National Bank as Assistant Vice President and Loan Recovery Officer. In that capacity, she tactfully dealt with borrowers and successfully maintained positive relations with customers, provided technical advice and training to other loan recovery staff members and continually streamlined department operations to maximize work flow and ensure optimum efficiency. She consistently exceeded performance standards in all functional areas.
For the past 13 years Sandy has been a full time real estate broker with RE/MAX Equity Group, listing and selling residential real estate and short sales. Sandy has worked with many Bank-REO Departments and Asset Management Companies.
During the last eight years Sandy has been involved with the “Women’s Council of Realtors” holding the positions of Greater Portland Area Chapter President, Oregon State Chapter President and currently the position of Oregon State Chapter Governor. She also received the 2005 Realtor of the Year Award from the Greater Portland Area Chapter and the 2010 Member of the Year Award for the State of Oregon.
Sandy currently lives in NW Portland with the love of her life, Don. Together they have five children and 13 grandchildren. She and Don love to travel.
